Fire crews are on scene at a structure fire at Scotiabank Centre in downtown Halifax.

They were called to the arena over the noon hour Thursday.

Photos show visible damage to a corner of the building facing Citadel Hill, where a billboard once was.

Duke Street between Brunswick and Argyle is closed, Carmichael Street is also closed to both vehicle and pedestrians
