A search is underway after a child fell into the water in Guysborough County.

It happened around 1:40 this afternoon in Cooks Cove, according to RCMP.

Multiple fire services, EHS lifeflight, Ground Search and Rescue teams from Pictou County, Strait area and Inverness County, along with Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, civil air search and rescue association and multiple RCMP units are on scene.

The public is asked to avoid the area to allow emergency services to do their work.
