A significant heatwave making it’s way through Northwestern Ontario.

Environment Canada put out the warning late Sunday afternoon which will affect Thunder Bay along with Kakabeka Falls, Atikokan, Fort Frances, Kenora and Dryden.

Maximum temperatures are expected to reach between 29 and 32 degrees Celsius on Monday and Tuesday.

Extreme heat affects everyone.

The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.

Watch for the effects of heat illness, including swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions.

Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.

Outdoor workers should take regularly scheduled breaks in a cool place.
