An emergency operation has shut down the Causeway bridge connecting Moncton and Riverview.

Members from the Moncton, Riverview and Dieppe fire departments are among those on the scene.

There also appears to be a fire department rescue boat in the water.

The bridge is closed to all traffic and RCMP are asking people to avoid the area.

You can still access the Gunningsville Bridge but traffic is heavy heading into Moncton from Riverview.
