A Thunder Bay restaurant has been torn down after decades serving the community.
Well known for their panzerottis and pizzas, Ceasars Place tragically caught fire in July, forcing it to be demolished.
Wayne Wilson lives in the neighbourhood and was watching the demolition, recalling great memories of the restaurant and its importance to the community.
“It’s a real piece of history I guess,” says Wilson. “I lived in Westfort and I used to come here, and I used to work at the railroad too when I was a kid. It’s just a real neighbourhood statement. The pizzas are great, it’s really important, it’s close for everybody. I’ll be coming back, hopefully they’ll get it rebuilt, but the older building just fits the neighbourhood.”
Currently there is a plan to rebuild, though there is not yet a timeline assigned to the project.
The morning of the demolition, the owners released this statement on the restaurant’s Facebook page:
