A six-year-old child is in the IWK with life-threatening injuries after being stabbed multiple times in downtown Halifax.

Police say it happened around 1:20 p.m., Sunday on Barrington Street.

The suspect, a 19-year-old woman was arrested at the scene for aggravated assault.

It is believed the victim, and the suspect know each other.
