Councillor for District 7 Halifax-South Downtown, Waye Mason, is officially throwing his hat in the ring to be the next mayor of Halifax.

Mason made the announcement at The Dart Gallery in Dartmouth, Monday afternoon.

He says his plan is focused on housing success and making Halifax affordable when it comes to the things that matter most to everyone, in every community.

“I’m running because affordability and housing pains unite everyone.  Getting it right demands experienced, seasoned hands and someone who is ready to go on day one.”

Mason adds that he knows what doors need to be opened and where the keys are to further unlock action on housing development and affordability.

“I’m proud of the work I’ve done and leadership I’ve shown over a decade, and I will ensure all of our hard work and momentum turns into a more affordable Halifax for everyone.”

Mason is the second councillor to put in their bid for mayor.

Councillor for Hammonds Plains and St. Margarets, Pam Lovelace, announced her candidacy last month.
