The curling season is underway.  It’s an exciting time once again for the City of Thunder Bay.  It’s in the curling spotlight – again!

Last week, Curling Canada announced that Thunder Bay will host the 2028 Canadian Under-18 Curling Championships at the Tournament Centre.  It’ll take place from April 2-8, 2028.  42 teams will be here.  21 women’s teams, and 21 men’s teams from across the country will be here.

AND, this is also on the heels of our city getting ready to host a stop on the Grand Slam of Curling tour, December 1-6 at the Fort William Gardens.  This event will see the world’s Top 16 Men’s and Top 16 Women’s curling teams.  According to Tourism Thunder Bay, this event could generate up to $5 million in economic impact.

Thunder Bay is a community with deep roots in curling.  AND, to have 2 enormous events right here…………means a lot to our city.  Congrats to all the hard-working volunteers and groups that made this possible.  Let’s put Thunder Bay in the spotlight and on the map – once again!
