Ontario’s Police watchdog has been called in to investigate a custody injury involving the Thunder Bay Police Service.

In the early hours of June 30th officers and paramedics were called to a court street home for an intoxicated man.

As the officers assisted paramedics in trying to get the man to hospital, an interaction occurred, according to the Special Investigations Unit.

This resulted in the man being taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Two investigators have been assigned to the case.

No other details have been made available as the investigation remains in its early stages.
