The mayor of Dryden is distancing the town from alleged comments made by a fellow council member on social media.
Jack Harrison sent out a statement Wednesday in relation to a recent post by councillor Ritch Noel.
It is not clear what was written in the post, but the mayor also extended sympathies to the Eagle Lake First Nation after a death in the community.
Harrison stated Noel’s comments do not reflect the views of council or the municipality regardless of the intent.
He adds council will look at removing Noel from a committee designated to enhance relationships with Indigenous and Métis residents and is also requesting the integrity commissioner look into his conduct.
Our newsroom has reached out to Noel for comment on the matter.
