It was an early morning for 35 firefighters in Halifax.
At about midnight, smoke alarms went off at a mixed-use building in the 6000 block of Quinpool Road, and firefighters headed to the scene, according to a social media post from the Halifax Professional Fire Fighters union.
Some members from Station 2 in the South End found a working fire and started trying to put it out.
They quickly upgraded to a second alarm to bring in more resources, which lead to 35 firefighters responding to the fire throughout the night, the union said.
Crews are still on the scene this morning, and they ask people to avoid the area.
