An emergency alert was issued around 8:30 a.m. Monday as RCMP responded to a barricaded person with a firearm inside a home on the 2000 block of Waverley Road.

Police have closed the area and are asking people to stay inside, lock doors and windows, and avoid the scene while officers respond.

The alert urged nearby residents not to leave secure locations and to call 911 with any information.
