Trans Canada Trails are being expanded through the Thunder Bay area.
Northwestern Ontario Recreational Trails Association (NWORTA) plans to expand the Trans Canada Trail south from Kakabeka Falls to Minnesota.
The trail will positively impact residents in the Boreal Road, Nolalu and Whitefish Lake areas.
NWORTA also applied to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry for a Trail Work Permit to establish the Pigeon River Hiking Trail through the townships of Marks, Strange, Fraleigh, and Devon.
They will be holding an open house to advise residents in the area, where they will discuss updates on the Phase I Shabaqua Trail and Phase II Kakabeka Falls Trail.
The Phase III Pigeon River Hiking Trail Open House will be held at the Nolalu Community Center on August 13.
