Friends and family have been mourning the loss of the 26-year-old man who was killed this weekend on the Halifax Waterfront.

Police have yet to identify the victim but online tributes for Davelle Desmond, from Dartmouth, have been pouring in. He died in hospital after being badly assaulted in Halifax on Sunday night.

Halifax Regional Police first received a report of the assault at about 9:40 p.m. on Sunday night. It happened on the Halifax waterfront in area of the 1500 block of Lower Water Street.

Desmond’s uncle has set up a GoFundMe page to help Desmond’s mother pay for the funeral costs. In it he shares that Desmond was expecting a baby with his girlfriend in November. Friends and loved ones have been sharing messages of mourning on Facebook, remembering the young man who was taken too soon.
