Despite a rainy prelude, participants in Thunder Bay’s Fire Fighters Ten Mile Road Race set out on Monday morning to keep up one of the city’s oldest traditions.

The road race is in its 90th year, and has been a tradition almost every year since 1910.

Drivers looking to get around the city on Monday may face some difficulty getting to and from the waterfront, as the race runs along Simpson Street, Fort William Road, and Water Street, before reaching the halfway point at the north core marina via the overpass.

2026 is a milestone year for the race, as for the first time ever, para athletes are participating in the event.
