Canada awards the first female hockey player to ever win The Northern Star Award.

Marie-Philip Poulin will claim the honor of Canada’s Athlete of the Year in 2022.

Making her the ninth hockey player to win since the award starting being handed out in 1936.

The 31 year old forward from Quebec led her hockey team to both a world title and Olympic gold in Beijing.

Montreal’s Carey Price was the last hockey player to win in 2015.
