The Lakehead Region Conservation Authority (LRCA) issued a flood warning for the Lakehead Region which includes Thunder Bay, Municipalities of Neebing, Oliver Paipoonge, Shuniah and the Townships of O’Connor, Conmee, Gillies and Dorion.
These areas have received 21-35mm of rain overnight, and are expected to get another 5-10mm more in the next 24 hours.

Keep an eye for flooded roads, sidewalks and other transportation paths. Within city streets, it’s good practice to go through large puddles slowly to avoid hydroplaning as well as an surprise potholes.
The LRCA says that levels of the Kaministiquia River, Current River and McIntyre River are also extremely high and are expected to continue to rise as well.
Parents and caregivers are advised to keep children away from all waterways and discuss the hazards of cold fast flowing water.
