A gastrointestinal outbreak has been declared at a Thunder Bay nursing home.
Southbridge Roseview is located on Shuniah Street and The Thunder Bay District Health Unit says the illness is in the Heritage Unit only. Admissions, transfers, discharges, and social activities in the unit have been cancelled until further notice.
The Health Unit is urging people to stay home and avoid visiting hospitals, long-term care homes, and retirement homes when feeling sick to avoid spreading infections to our most vulnerable.
The public is being reminded to prevent getting and spreading gastrointestinal infections by:
• Washing hands often, for at least 20 seconds with soap and warm water, or by using an
alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
• Staying at home if sick to avoid spreading infections to others.
