A youth chess tournament in Grass Narrows First Nation is back for its second year of operation.

Grand Council Treaty #3 is hosting the event with the support of staff from the First Nation and the host school Sakatcheway Anishinabe School.

The competition is a way for communities to connect, and commemorate the teamwork of Anishinabe youths.

Vendors and schools have until Thursday to register for the event.

Schools can submit a junior team (grades 4-8) and or senior team (grades 9-12) with a maximum a five players per team.

There is a limit of two coaches/chaperones per school.

The event is taking place from April 24-25.
