Acadia News was made aware of the signage Sunday at the facility on Red River Road with one reading “There’s no jobs on a dead planet” while another read’s Patty Hajdu’s name, followed by “Inaction equals genocide”

Hajdu was named as the new Minister of Indigenous Services and Minister Responsible for FedNor on October 26th after previously serving as the Minister of Health.

The Member of Parliament for Thunder Bay-Superior North released a statement through a spokesperson:

“The right to peaceful protest is a foundation of our Charter rights in Canada. I welcome this conversation within our community of Thunder Bay, and I am hopeful that dialogue can resume between the elected and hereditary Chiefs, the provincial government of British Columbia, and the owners of Coastal GasLink, for a resolution that recognizes Indigenous sovereignty and title rights.”

MP’s are back in Ottawa to open the 44th session of Parliament with the election of the Speaker of the House of Commons Monday, which will be followed by the Speech from the Throne Tuesday as read by Governor General Mary Simon.
