Federal election candidates in Halifax will go head to head in a debate Wednesday night.

Topics will focus on women’s rights and gender justice.

More than a dozen non-profit and advocacy groups are helping to put on the debate, including Adsum for Women and Children, Avalon Sexual Assault Centre, Be The Peace Institute, Bryony House, and more, are teaming up to host the event. For the full list, check out the poster for the event below.

The debate is free to attend and anyone is allowed to ask questions.

However, it is unclear how many candidates for the Halifax riding are attending.

According to elections Canada, there are five people officially registered as candidates in the riding. They are:

• Liberal – Shannon Miedema
• Conservative – Mark Boudreau
• New Democrats – Lisa Roberts
• Green Party – Amethyste Hamel-Gregory
• People’s Party – Maricar Aliasut

The event is at the Dalhousie Student Union building in the McInnes Room. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
