Two out-of-control wildfires continue to burn in New Brunswick
The Department of Natural Resources reports that a fire in Irishtown, located north of Moncton, has burned 45 hectares.
Firefighters from Moncton, Dieppe, and Riverview, as well as the DNR, continue to battle the blaze, with the assistance of thirty firefighters from Nova Scotia, PEI, and Maine.
Hundreds in the Irishtown, Tankville, Evangeline and Lakeville areas remain under an evacuation advisory. Most are ready to leave if notified.
In the Miramchi area, that out-of-control fire currently remains at just over 1100 hectares.
DNR says no structures have been destroyed, but they are reminding all residents to have the following items on hand in the event of an evacuation.Heat warnings
Some of the basic items include water, food, a flashlight, a radio, batteries, first Aid items, prescription medication, pet food and cash.
You should have enough that would benefit you and your family for at least 72 hours.
Heat warnings continue across the province
New Brunswickers will be seeking shade again on Wednesday.
Heat warnings remain in effect across most of the province.
Cooler areas will be once again along the Fundy coast, and Saint John and the area are excluded from the warning.
Temperatures for today will soar as high as 37 degrees, with the humidex making it feel as warm as 43 degrees.
We could get a bit of relief tomorrow as temperatures moderate as a weak cold front passes through the region.
Air quality advisories remain in effect for Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick, and Miramichi and the area due to wildfires.
