A wild herd of Asian elephants have become international sensations. The pachyderms are on an epic journey through southwestern China, having so far travelled close to 500 kilometres. The trip started in March 2020 after they escaped a nature reserve. It’s unclear why they are on their trek which has gathered a huge following around the world. No animals or humans have been injured on the journey, but they have caused more than $1 million in crop damage.  The elephants stopped a few days ago for a good rest.  This photo(above) and others, and videos have captured close to 200 million views on Chinese social media. We’ll see where their journey takes them.
