Two demolition projects could happen soon in Halifax, and the Nova Scotia Heritage Trust says it’s another example of the city losing historic buildings.

The group says barricades are up at the corner of Robie Street and Spring Garden, sectioning off several buildings, which could be from the late-Victorian or early-Twentieth century.

Dexel, a company part of the (insert group), plans to use all the properties along Spring Garden Road from Robie Street to Carlton Street for the build, according to an image from the Spring Garden West development website.

It says they will adapt and reuse three heritage buildings along Cartlon Street. The build will offer 300 luxury apartments, three floors for professional and medical offices, as well as ground level commercial space, and 300 public parking spaces below ground, according to the site.

Another group of buildings is surrounded by barricades on Parker Street, which connects Windsor Street and Welsford Street. Signs on the fence mark say it is a demolition zone.

The group is planning protests for both sets of old homes and will announce plans on their social media page later on.
