Some mine workers in the district may have been exposed to COVID-19 while at a Nunavut mine work site.

Both the Thunder Bay District and the Northwestern Health Units have issued warnings for anyone who worked at the Mary River Mine Site at Baffinland Iron Mines in Nunavut between April 15th and May 27th.

They say anyone at the mine on Baffin Island may be at risk for the virus.

Local officials say there are a handful of people from our region that work there.

Mine employees and contractors now back home are asked to immediately self-isolate and phone the health unit important information at (807) 625-5900, or toll-free at 1-888-294 6630.
