An estimated price tag of $284,250 to replacing safety netting at indoor satellite arenas across Thunder Bay.

Council examined the report (pages 86-90) Monday night, which will now be considered during the January 20th Community Services budget meeting thanks to a 9-2 vote.

General Manager of Community Services Kelly Robertson told the elected officials that there are no known external funding sources for the project currently, which means council would have to use the capital budget or reserves.

Staff recommended a priority installation should council choose to pursue the project and distribute the financial impact over multiple fiscal years:

Permanent protective safety netting is currently installed at the end zones of the arenas, which is estimated to be approximately 20 years old.

The original estimate back in January 2020 pegged the cost to install the netting at a combined cost of $52,500.
