Highway 17 has reopened following a fatal head‑on collision that left two people dead earlier today.

The highway had been closed between Sistonen Corners and Highway 130 while emergency crews and collision investigators worked at the scene. 

The crash involved a pickup truck and an SUV and required several hours of on‑scene analysis before the roadway could safely reopen.

All lanes are now open to traffic, and motorists can resume normal travel.
