I’ve known Kevin Cernjul for years, in fact he is one of the first local musicians I think I interviewed and connected with back in my former life. The pandemic really cut the legs out from underneath Kevin and his partner Kim MacKenzie, and while their story wasn’t necessarily unique, what they did with it was. They pivoted what they were doing, found a passion for cooking and creating new flavours and Hooligan Fuel Hot Sauce was born. The community embraced the sauce, stepped up with they needed help and helped to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table. Well, now it’s time for Kevin and Kim to give back. They’ve launched the ‘Spice of Life Initiative’ which will see money funneled back into the community and passion projects. ‘Andrew’s Fund’, skateboards for kids to try out skateboarding, the Tumblestone Music Festival, and so many more projects are being planned and funded by this initiative.
Full disclosure: Hooligan Fuel Hot Sauce has been helping me to be able to stomach my own cooking for quite a while now (I’m hooked!) and has been helping me to get through the fitness journey I’ve been taking during the last year. To add to that, The Spice of Life Initiative is actually going to be helping me to release a book this fall.
