Last night, the skies over Thunder Bay put on a truly spectacular show. The northern lights shimmered in vibrant waves of green, purple, and even red – rippling across the sky.
It’s not every night we get to see the aurora this bright and active – even in town where city lights usually drown out the view. For a while, the whole sky seemed alive with colour.
These lights happen when charged particles from the sun collide with gases in Earth’s atmosphere, creating that magical glow that’s captivated people for centuries. Fun fact: the green and red colours comes from oxygen, while purples and pinks are caused by nitrogen!
Last night’s show was truly one to remember, and made me feel proud to live in our beautiful region. Here are a few of my favorite shots from the night.
