An individual in Thunder Bay is facing charges after attempting to avoid arrest and driving while impaired.

An officer was on patrol in the Dawson Road area on Thursday, where they witnessed the driver of a vehicle participating in what appeared to be a drug-related transaction.

When approached, the suspect ran.

Officers were able to locate and arrest the suspect nearby.

An assessment back at the police station determined the individual was impaired by a drug.

As a result, a 33-year-old is facing the following charges:

  • Impaired operation of a vehicle
  • Resisting a peace officer
  • Failure to comply with a release order
  • Failure to comply with a probation order

The accused remains in custody with a future court date.
