A Thunder Bay native has passed away.

Joe Comuzzi was first elected to the House of Commons for Thunder Bay—Superior North in 1988 as a Liberal.

Starting that year, Joe served six years as a member of parliament.

He was a Liberal for many years getting into a bit of trouble.

More recently, Joe opposed of same sex marriage in Canada and later resigned from cabinet in June of 2005

Later, he was expelled from the Liberal caucus after pledging his support on Conservative budget in March 2007. ”

Joe then crossed the floor and joined the Conservative Party on June 2007.

He announced he would not seek re-election in September 2008.

Joe was 88.
