Ontario’s Education Minister says the plan is to return to in-class learning in September.

“With low cases in the community, we know absolutely we’re going to be able to return kids back to class,” said Stephen Lecce. “The Chief Medical Officer of Health is working now on the final guidance on what we can do to maintain the safety of schools.”

He notes the province will present its plan to parents, “with the intention of restoring extra-curriculars, sports, clubs and a more social, interactive, yet continuing to be safe learning experience.”

“The fact that vaccine rates are rising, obviously aggressively, 46% plus of the Ontario population double vaccinated, over 78% has a single dose. This gives us an incredible sense of confidence,” added Lecce.

Lecce believes an official announcement could come within the next two weeks.
