Many are excited to see the province enter Step of the Roadmap To Reopen.

This means non-essential stores such as retail will be able to have customers.

One service in the city that still has to keep their doors closed is the Thunder Bay Public Library.

“Right now we still have to do curbside pickup,” explained Chief Librarian John Pateman. “In Phase 2 no real change for the library either. We hopefully will be able to let people back into the library building soon. That is also reliant on us having the buildings ready.”

While Pateman has to be patient, he says there are big plans for when the local libraries are able to again open their doors.

“We do plan grand re-openings at all four of our libraries when we get there when the timing is right,” remarked Pateman. “Particularly at our two downtown libraries, Brodie and Waverley, we have bought new furniture, we have new shelving, we have new desks.”

Pateman is hopeful the fresh look will help when the libraries do re-open.
