Today is the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day to honour, remember and learn about the indigenous children, parents and survivors affected by residential schools. There are a number of ways you can learn more by wearing your orange shirt and listen to stories of residential school survivors. That is the subject of a three-part podcast series created by Historica Canada.  Check it out here.

You can see the film Indian Horse, the fictional story of an indigenous hockey player that looks into the terrors he suffers in his younger years in a residential school. The movie is directed by Stephen Campanelli, and is notable for Clint Eastwood as the film’s executive producer.  The City will have a screening of the film at 6:30 p.m. at the Marina. More info here.  If you can’t make it there tonight, the film is available on Netflix.
