
The Fort Frances Lakers have lost their first games of the season in the Superior International Junior Hockey League.
The Lakers were shutout 2-0 Saturday night by the Dryden GM Ice Dogs.
That followed up on a 2-1 loss to the Ice Dogs Friday night in overtime.
The Red Lake Miners won their first game of the season on Saturday getting by the Ironwood Lumberjacks 5-4.
That came after a 4-2 loss to the Lumberjacks Friday night.
The only other game this weekend saw the Kam River Fighting Walleye get by their cross-town rivals, the Thunder Bay North Stars 3-2 in a shootout.
After open the season with three straight losses, the Lakehead Thunderwolves men’s hockey team got its win.
The ‘Wolves got by the Brock Badgers Friday night 5-2.
The followed up on a 2-1 loss on Thursday to the Badgers.
Lakehead heads out on its first road trip next weekend as they meet the Guelph Gryphons Friday and the Waterloo Warriors Saturday.
