A Thunder Bay resident is facing charges after being involved in a collision with a police vehicle.

Officers were on patrol at the intersection of Balmoral Street and Oliver Road on Wednesday evening when the collision occurred.

The police vehicle was traveling on Balmoral with a green light when a vehicle turned in front of it causing the collision.

Officers spoke to the driver and noticed signs of impairment.

Both vehicles were damaged but no injuries were reported.

As a result, a 20-year-old has been charged with impaired operation and operation of a motor vehicle while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration higher than 80 plus.

The accused has been released with conditions and a future court date.
