A man is facing charges following an incident on Lincoln Street.

Officers were sent to the area on Monday morning after receiving reports of a weapons incident.

A man had been seen with a gun and they used the weapon to assault a victim.

Officers were able to locate and arrest the suspect.

As a result a 41-year-old is facing the following charges:

• Assault with a weapon
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
• Breach of probation (two counts)

The accused remains in custody with a future court date.
