A man has serious injuries after a stabbing in downtown Halifax.

Police say it happened early Sunday around 4 a.m., at the intersection of Barrington and Richmond Streets.

They found a 27-year-old man suffering from stab wounds before was taken to hospital.

It is believed the incident began as an argument among a group of people before escalating into a fight.

No other injuries have been reported.

Investigators are asking for any dashcam footage between 3:15 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Barrington between Richmond and Duffus Streets.
