Mark Carney is promising to get rid of the federal carbon tax.
The candidate for the federal Liberal party leader, and former governor of the Bank of Canada, spoke at Pier 21 in Halifax Friday morning.
Instead of the carbon tax, Carney would reward people for using green energy alternatives and make big polluters pay for it.
He also says he would punish oil imports to spur more domestic oil and gas production.
“What’s the bottom line? Canada can become a clean energy superpower and make the most of our existing oil and gas resources during the transition,” says Carney.
Carney adds they will do all of this while lowering costs for Canadian households.
More to come…
