There has been an incident involving a military helicopter in eastern Ontario.

The Royal Canadian Air Force confirmed the incident in a social media post on Tuesday morning.

The CH-147 Chinook helicopter was operating near the Ottawa River in the vicinity of CFB Petawawa.

According to the post, the incident took place shortly after midnight local time.

First responders are on the scene and no other details have been released.

CFB Petawawa is located northwest of Ottawa.

The RCAF is aware of an incident involving a CH147 Chinook helicopter that was operating near the Ottawa River in the vicinity of Garrison Petawawa at approximately 12:10 a.m. local time.
