Saint John Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing man.

Seventy-five-year-old John (Jack) Smith  was reported missing to police on Friday, October 27, at approximately 9:56 p.m.  He did not  return to his hunting camp.

Smith was last seen on a trail camera at around 10:00 a.m the same day in an area on the southwest side of Henderson Lake. His camp is located in a wooded area on the southeast side of Henderson Lake between the lake and the Fundy Regional Service Commission (Crane Mountain Landfill).

Officers searched the area through the night with the assistance of the K9 Unit and family family.   The Major Crime Unit is now leading the investigation and larger search has been ongoing with the assistance of the River Valley, York, Charlotte and Fundy Ground Search and Rescue teams as well as the Saint John Fire Department.

Landowners in the area of Henderson Lake are asked to search their properties.

Jack is described as 5’9”, 220 lbs, white hair, white beard, and blue eyes.  He was last seen wearing a high visibility hunter’s orange vest, an orange ball cap, a green fleece, and military style (CADPAT) camouflage pants.
