Today marks DAY 466 since the section of River Street has been closed because of a collapsed culvert.  The rumored timeline to reopen is early September.  AND, reminder this Wednesday – the section of Court Street that’s closed will be extended through the intersection of Court and Red River Road.  This is all part of the ‘streetscape project’.  The CITY reminds you that the businesses are still open in the area – please support them…if you can!

There was a winning ticket in this past Friday’s LOTTO MAX.  The $55 million winning ticket was sold in the Ottawa area.  BUT, Friday’s Lotto Max also yielded a winner in the Thunder Bay area.  According to OLG officials, the 2nd prize (which is 6 out of 7 numbers, plus the bonus)……one winner….and it was sold here.  Prize payout:  almost $244,000.

Whether you follow the world of GOLF or not, this is definitely a wild story about PHIL MICKELSON.  There’s a new book coming out that details Phil’s gambling habits.  The writer, who’s name is Billy Walters, claims he had a ‘gambling partnership’ with Phil…and that PHIL has wagered more than $1 billion over the past 30 years….and has lost close to $100 million.   One example was – he bet $400,000 on the U.S to win The Ryder Cup….which he was playing in.  He’s denied it.  The book comes out next week.  PHIL was paid $200 million to play with the current LIV GOLF LEAGUE.

If you like those MONSTER ENERGY DRINKS – take note:  The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued a national recall.  It affects all flavors of the drink that have caffeine and that don’t have bilingual labeling in English and French.  They’re being recalled because of caffeine content and label issues and ‘non-compliance’.  Stores would have most likely removed these particular ones off the shelves…but if you have them at home  with no English / French labeling and it just says “Monster Energy” don’t drink them.   Fun fact:  the Monster Energy brand has been around for over 20 years;  it has a 30% share of the ‘energy drink’ market…that totals about $6.5 billion every year.
