Monster Energy says they take compliance very seriously for all of its products intended for Canadian markets, after the Canadian Food inspection agency ordered a recall for some of their products earlier this week.
The recall was over some products due to issues related to labeling accuracy and caffeine levels according to the CFIA. In an email from a Monster energy representative, the company says the products were likely never meant to be old in Canada in the first place, but instead brought over by a third party.
They say they specifically formulate and label all of their Canadian products to align with federal requirements. In addition to this, they said that all of their Canadian products have been licensed for consumption by Health Canada.
Monster says they were never contacted by the CFIA throughout the recall process, further cementing their belief that they did not bring the recalled products to Canada. Also, neither Monster nor Coca-Cola Canada Bottling Limited were named in the recall notice.
They believe that the recall has no impact on any Monster Energy products that were formulated and labelled for Canada.
