Forty firefighters from British Columbia are now aiding in the fight against the Lake George wildfire that is still burning out of control.

They arrived in Nova Scotia yesterday and will stay for two weeks. They began working alongside the Department of Natural Resources and local crews today.

Four planes from the Northwest Territories, 2 from Newfoundland and Labrador and 5 contracted helicopters are also aiding in the fight from the air.

The wildfire has now consumed around 290 hectares, and dry and windy conditions continue to be a challenge for firefighters.

The Department of Natural Resources says there have been no reports of damage to structures.

Crews are continuing to work hard to protect the surrounding homes and other buildings.

The evacuation zone remains the same. 275 civic addresses have been evacuated since the fire broke out on September 28.
