Several highways across Northwestern Ontario are currently closed as poor weather and road conditions continue to impact travel in the region.

Provincial highway updates show a number of key routes shutting down overnight and early this morning, affecting major east-west corridors as well as routes heading north from Thunder Bay.

Drivers are being advised to avoid non-essential travel and check highway conditions before heading out, as closures may remain in place until conditions improve.

Current highway closures include:

  • Highway 631 – closed in both directions between Highway 17 at White River and Highway 11 at Calstock due to weather conditions.
  • Highway 11 – closed in both directions between Highway 584 near Geraldton and Highway 17 at Nipigon due to weather conditions.
  • Highway 17 – closed in both directions between Nipigon and Peninsula Road near Marathon due to weather conditions.
  • Highway 17 – closed in both directions between Pass Lake Road near Thunder Bay and Nipigon due to weather conditions.
  • Highway 527 – closed in both directions between Highways 11/17 in Thunder Bay and Armstrong due to poor road conditions.

Motorists are encouraged to monitor provincial highway updates for the latest information on reopening times.
