The province is requesting proposals for the disposal of four 42’ x 9’ x 15’ railcars near the mouth of the Walton River following the abandonment of a tidal energy project in the Bay of Fundy.
FORCE (the Fundy Ocean Research Centre for Energy) says the railcars now pose a navigational hazard and a concern for residents, and has stepped in to oversee their safe, environmentally responsible removal.
The province is inviting qualified contractors with experience in marine salvage or heavy civil removals to submit plans by April 17 at 5 p.m. ADT.
Successful candidates will be responsible for removing and transporting the 300-tonne railcars from the seabed, disposing of them at an approved site, and clearing all debris and obstructions from the area.
