If you love music… if you REALLY love music then you’re one of the lucky ones. It’s safe to assume that if you indeed are a true music lover then you probably have a band that you love most and seeing that band live is something I can hope you’ve been fortunate enough to do. In my case tickets to a concert are worth more than gold…they represent tickets to freedom.

When I made the transition from working in tv to radio I couldn’t have been happier, from that day forward my life started to revolve around music…stopping only long enough to catch a show. I threw myself head first into the world of music and I’ve been there ever since. Music was more then just a good time for me…it was more then just background noise…more then just a clever sound and much more then just a form of entertainment. Music was parental and since day one it was way less dysfunctional then anything in my life. Music was celebration, music was safety, music was a kept promise and music was my first real friend. It didn’t end there…music was my clear thoughts, music was home and music was the reason for the shows. I can’t imagine my life without the musical memories and lessons I carry with me now.

Music could give a rat’s (you know what) about what anyone thinks of it.

Music doesn’t need permission, forgiveness or approval.

Music doesn’t need anything at all and it doesn’t ever mind or complain if you find yourself needing it.

That’s where it’s beauty lies…in its ability to roam around inside your head and help you understand and accept yourself more so than you ever thought you could…without leaving you feel embarrassed, ashamed or judged.

It fills the void with stories you can relate to and the kind of philosophical comfort you’d be hard pressed to find anywhere else. So, when you find a band whose music you feel speaks on your behalf, the chance to see that band in concert is a chance sent down straight from Heaven.

To me, a live show is a fearless mass confession set in front of the world’s greatest backdrop: a band.

Someone once told me that without music, our souls would starve. That’s why it’s important to find the sounds that feed you. Take more than one serving, explore new flavours, revisit old favourites, and never be afraid to go back for more.

The beautiful thing about music is that no matter how much you take in, there’s always room for another song.
