The OPP say they are investigating a homicide on the Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug (Big Trout Lake) First Nation. First Nation.

The body of one person was located on New Years day around 3:00 in the afternoon after police responded to an incident in the community.

Officers later found second person who was deceased.

The OPP don’t believe there is any threat to public safety.

A post-mortem exam will be done at a later date in Toronto the confirm the cause of death and the identity of the decreased.

The OPP North West Region’s Crime Unit, Emergency Response Team, Regional Support Team, OPP Forensic Identification Services, and Major Case Investigation Team are continuing under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
