A man is in police custody after a brief standoff in Hurkett Township, north east of Thunder Bay.

Ontario Provincial Police closed a portion of Highway 11/17 around 4:00 p.m. Tuesday for the incident.

Because shots were fired by officers, the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is now taking the lead in the investigation.

No injuries have been confirmed.
