Many homes and businesses in the Saint Andrews area will have no power on Thursday night.

A planned power outage will take place in the area between 9 p.m. Thursday and 3 a.m. Friday.

NB Power has noted it is a “Priority 1” issue that needs to be addressed, according to a social media post from the town.

“If the repairs are not completed shortly, there could be more damage and that could lead to an unplanned outage that could take days to repair versus the [scheduled] time noted,” said the post.

NB Power will be upgrading facilities to reduce the risk of future animal-related outages, according to the municipality.

Saint Andrews said it requested shifting the start time to later in the evening, but the line technicians require some sunlight to set up and start the process.

“We understand the inconvenience this will have on the community, but the repairs are necessary to prevent further and longer outages in the future,” it said.
